Status Retain Terms and Conditions
1. Overview
1.1 Status Retain is available to Members in Koru Gold, Koru Platinum and Koru Black tiers.
1.2 Status Retain helps eligible Members maintain their current tier for a further year (membership year). It cannot be used to upgrade to a higher tier.
2. Eligibility
2.1 Eligibility for Status Retain is assessed once every three Membership Years.
2.2 To qualify, a Member must be below the retain threshold for their current tier at the time of assessment - this is within 14 days of their review date.
3. How Status Retain Works
3.1 If eligible, Air New Zealand will apply only the exact number of Status Points required for the Member to reach their retain threshold. No additional Status Points will be awarded.
3.2 The maximum Status Retain allocation available per tier is:
- Koru Gold: up to 30 Status Points
- Koru Platinum: up to 50 Status Points
- Koru Black: up to 70 Status Points
3.3 If a Member earns sufficient eligible Status Points in the final 14 days of their Membership Year to retain their tier naturally, the Status Retain benefit will not be applied.
3.4 Status Retain will be applied only on the final day of the Member’s Membership Year and will not be applied earlier.
4. Notification and Visibility
4.1 If eligible, the Member will be notified 14 days before their Membership Anniversary.
4.2 If Status Retain is applied, the Member will be notified that the benefit has been used.
4.3 The application of Status Retain will appear on the Member’s Activity Statement as “Status Retain applied.”
5. General
5.1 Status Retain is available once every three Membership Years and is subject to the Koru Programme Terms and Conditions.
5.2 Air New Zealand may vary, suspend or withdraw Status Retain at any time, subject to applicable law.
5.3 Where eligible, Status Retain will be applied first, followed by Status Points Rollover (if applicable), and then Banked Year (if applicable). These mechanisms cannot be combined within the same Membership Year.
5.4 Tier retention mechanisms operate strictly in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. Members are not entitled to additional manual adjustments or discretionary allocations beyond those expressly provided.
