Sustainability

Aviation connects Aotearoa to the world and supports our economic and social success. It helps our people to connect with others at home and abroad, and it is fundamental to the ongoing success of Aotearoa's world class tourism proposition. However, flying creates carbon emissions, and these are hard to abate.

Air New Zealand is committed to finding a more sustainable way to connect with the world and reach our goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Our Sustainability Framework helps guide our efforts in tackling some of New Zealand's and the world's most complex challenges.

You can find out more in our 2023 Sustainability Report and on our sustainability reporting and communication page.

Our Sustainability Framework is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the 'blueprint' to create a better and more sustainable future for all.

Sustainability Advisory Panel

We have an internationally renowned group of external subject matter experts who meet twice a year to advise us on all aspects of our sustainability journey. Members of Air New Zealand's Board of Directors and Executive team also participate in the Sustainability Advisory Panel meetings.
