Status Points

About Status Points

Status Points are how you climb up Koru tiers, and enjoy benefits such as priority service, lounge access, seat upgrades and extra baggage allowance.

Status Points last 12 months from when they're earned. This means that once you've earned enough Status Points within any 12 month period, your status will immediately move up to the next tier.

Earning Status Points

You can earn Status Points on flights, and with a Status Points earning credit card. To earn on flights, make sure that you enter your Koru number when you book a flight. The amount of Status Points you earn on flights changes depending on the ticket purchased.

Use our Status Points calculator to see how many Status Points your flight will earn.

Moving up Koru tiers

As you earn and accumulate Status Points , you can upgrade through the Koru tiers. Starting at Koru Bronze, you can upgrade to Koru Silver, followed by Koru Gold, Koru Platinum and Koru Black. View the Comparison table to view the Koru tiers and benefits.

Once you've earned enough Status Points within any 12 month period, your status will immediately move up to the next tier and you'll receive your new benefits and an end of tier date. Your end of tier date will be the last day of the calendar month, 12 months in the future, when your account will next be reviewed. Any unused benefits expire when you upgrade or downgrade tiers.

The best way to track your Status Points progress is in the member portal or Air NZ app.

Qualifying flights

To reach Koru Silver and above, a certain percentage of Status Points must come from qualifying flights. Qualifying flights differ by membership tier.

For Koru Silver and Koru Gold, 50% of the required Status Points must be earned from qualifying flights, which include Air New Zealand operated flights, qualifying partner airline flights, eligible Star Alliance flights, and/or Status Points Bonus.

For Koru Platinum and Koru Black, 60% of the required Status Points must be earned from qualifying flights, which include Air New Zealand operated flights, qualifying partner airline flights, and/or Status Points Bonus. Eligible Star Alliance flights can contribute to your total Status Points but do not count towards the 60% qualifying flights requirement.

To see which airlines are qualifying partner airlines, visit the Co-operation partners page. For more information about Star Alliance airlines and how they contribute to Status Points, visit the Star Alliance page.
