Inbound: A new Auckland International Lounge experience

We know that the current lounge space is extremely busy at peak times, and we've heard your feedback about the limited space, and what you expect from our lounges. We're excited to soon be starting work on a bigger, more comfortable experience that's been designed based on your feedback and with features that you value the most.

Construction is planned to begin in early 2026 and is estimated to be completed by the end of 2027.

Parts of the current lounge will be temporarily closed or impacted during construction. However, you will continue to have access to a lounge, and we'll notify you with everything you need to know closer to construction starting through our website, app, and at the terminal. 

We'll do our best to maintain lounge benefits (including guest access) during the lounge upgrade. In some cases, offerings may be adapted or the specific lounge space you will have access to may vary. We'll update you about any changes closer to the time.

There will be a Koru Premier Lounge exclusively for Airpoints Elite (in future Koru Platinum), Air New Zealand Business Premier, and Star Alliance Business Class customers, and for our new Koru Black members and Koru Black Nominees.

The Koru Lounge is exclusive for Airpoints Gold (in future Koru Gold), Star Alliance Gold, Koru members (in future Koru Club members), Elite Partners (in future Koru Platinum Nominees), and Airpoints Silver eVoucher holders (in future Koru Silver), and our new Koru Family Nominees.

If the Elite Partner (Koru Platinum nominee) is travelling with the Elite (Koru Platinum member), they may access the same lounge as the Elite (Koru Platinum) member.
If the Elite Partner (Koru Platinum nominee) is travelling without the Elite (Koru Platinum) member, the Elite Partner (Koru Platinum nominee) will access the Koru Lounge.

Once Koru is launched, Koru Black Nominees and Koru Family Nominees will access the lounges as follows:

• When travelling with a Koru Black member, both the Koru Black Nominee and the Koru Family Nominee may access the same lounge as the Koru Black member.
• When travelling without the Koru Black member:
  • The Koru Black Nominee may access the Koru Premier Lounge.
  • The Koru Family Nominee may access the Koru Lounge.

Access to The Lookout Lounge is by invitation and we will let you know which lounge to go to when you check-in at the airport via the Air NZ App and text message.

We manage Auckland International lounge capacity in real time and will invite lounge eligible customers to either the Koru Lounge or The Lookout Lounge after check-in at the airport. This is based on forecasted occupancy and anticipated demand throughout the day, ensuring that we maintain comfort and safety standards within the lounges. 

Follow the signs after security to the Air New Zealand Lookout Lounge.  This lounge is located on level 2 closer to the departure gates. At the top of the escalators turn right and go up the stairs that are on the right of the Bistro Box caravan.

You'll find the same, friendly Air New Zealand team plus a full-service bar, barista coffee, our full buffet with hot and cold food, and a range of seating options.  There are no bathrooms or showers inside The Lookout Lounge, however bathrooms are nearby in the terminal and our friendly team can point you in the right direction. 

As we work toward upgrading the Koru Lounge, we'll do our best to minimise disruption and the impact of noise and building activity in the Koru lounge.  There will be times when sections of the lounge will be closed because of this work. We appreciate your understanding during this time.
