Earning Airpoints™ 

Koru members can earn Airpoints when travelling on flights booked with an NZ or CX flight number between New Zealand and Hong Kong only. Airpoints are not able to be earned on flights booked with a flight number that does not begin with NZ or CX.

Flights booked with an NZ flight number, even if they are operated by Cathay Pacific will earn Airpoints as per the Air New Zealand tab on our Airpoints Calculator.

Flights booked with a CX flight number (e.g. CX107) will earn Airpoints as per the partner tab on our Airpoints Calculator.

Airpoints for Business members can earn Airpoints on Cathay Pacific operated flights with an NZ flight number between New Zealand and Hong Kong, subject to flying in an eligible booking class.

Earning Status Points

Koru members can earn Status Points at the Air New Zealand rate when travelling on a flight booked with an NZ flight number between New Zealand and Hong Kong, even if it is operated by Cathay Pacific.

Status Points are not able to be earned on flights booked with a CX flight number or any other flight number that does not begin with NZ.

Spending Airpoints

Koru members can use their Airpoints to purchase Cathay Pacific operated flights between New Zealand and Hong Kong directly through the Air New Zealand website.

Koru benefits

Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black travelling between Hong Kong and New Zealand on a booking with an NZ flight number operated by Cathay Pacific will receive the same Koru benefits they usually receive on Air New Zealand operated flights.

These benefits include:

  • Priority check-in
  • Priority boarding
  • Priority seating
  • Extra checked-in baggage allowance (one piece up to 23kg)
  • A carry-on allowance of two bags up to 7kg each 

The above benefits are not available on any other flights operated by Cathay Pacific, such as between Hong Kong and London, or any flights not booked with a Air New Zealand flight number (starting with NZ).

Departing New Zealand to Hong Kong:

Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black may access the Air New Zealand International Koru Lounge, when departing on a booking with an NZ flight number from New Zealand to Hong Kong, including those operated by Cathay Pacific. Usual guest allowance privileges for this lounge apply.

Departing Hong Kong to New Zealand:

Koru Gold, Koru Platinum, and Koru Black, plus one guest, may access the Cathay Pacific Business class lounges (The Pier, The Wing, The Deck or The Bridge) at Hong Kong airport when departing on a booking with an NZ flight number to New Zealand, including those operated by Cathay Pacific.

Connecting between Hong Kong and Beijing or Shanghai:

Koru Gold, Koru Platinum and Koru Black, plus one guest, may also access Cathay Pacific Business class lounges in Hong Kong, Beijing or Shanghai when they connect to or from a Cathay Pacific flight to or from Beijing or Shanghai.

Koru Family Nominees, Koru Platinum Nominees, and Koru Black Nominees receive the following benefits when travelling on services operated by Cathay Pacific between New Zealand and Hong Kong when booked with a NZ flight number:

Baggage allowance

For journeys between New Zealand and Hong Kong, Air New Zealand's baggage allowance applies. For journeys that start or finish beyond Hong Kong, the baggage allowance of the airline operating the connecting sector may apply.
