1 Earning Airpoints Dollars

1.1 General
1.1.1 To help us to record your Air New Zealand Airpoints Dollars automatically, you must quote your Membership number when making any bookings and when you check-in with any Non-Airline Reward Partner. We are not responsible for any Airpoints Dollars that don't appear in your Account or if a Partner fails to credit Airpoints Dollars to your Account.
1.1.2 We will only enter into discussions or correspondence with you, about crediting your Airpoints Dollars if you supply proof (the original boarding pass and the original or a copy of your Flight Ticket) of your Qualifying Flight or the original receipt and/or rental agreement (if requested by us) for any Non-Airline Reward Partner qualifying goods or services you have bought. The Air New Zealand Contact Centre does not accept as proof: vouchers; charge card vouchers; or confirmation advices.
Your claim for missing Airpoints Dollars must be made within six months of:
• the relevant Qualifying Flight; or
• the date you used the Non-Airline Reward Partner's qualifying goods and/or services; or
• the relevant promotion end date (however, if the promotion includes a Qualifying Flight, you must make your claim within six months of the Flight, not the promotion end date).
We're not responsible for any claims for Airpoints Dollars that have been delayed, or lost, or for any claims that the Air New Zealand Contact Centre doesn't receive.
1.1.3 You can't earn Airpoints Dollars for Non-Qualifying Flights.
1.1.4 Your Account can be credited with Airpoints Dollars for a Qualifying Flight taken before your Date of Joining - but only if:
• you took the Qualifying Flight less than 30 days before your Date of Joining; or
• the last Sector of your Journey was completed less than 30 days before your Date of Joining, and the entire Journey which is on the same Ticket or Itinerary was taken within the six month period before your Date of Joining.
To have your Account credited with these Airpoints Dollars, you must send your original boarding pass and the original or a copy of your Ticket to the Air New Zealand Contact Centre within the time, specified above.
1.1.5 It may take up to eight weeks for Airpoints Dollars to be credited to your Account, once we have all the information we need. You can't redeem these Airpoints Dollars for Rewards until they have been credited to your Account.
1.1.6 Airpoints Dollars earned on Itineraries involving only Air New Zealand Operated Flights are calculated in accordance with the Airpoints Dollars Earned on Air New Zealand Chart. Airpoints Dollars earned on Qualifying Flights that are a combination of Partner Airlines or Air New Zealand and Partner Airlines are calculated in accordance with the Partner Airline Earn Chart for Partner Airline Flights and the Airpoints Dollars Earned on the Air New Zealand Chart for Air New Zealand Operated Flights.
1.1.7 You can't earn Airpoints Dollars on travel that qualifies you (at the same time) for benefits under any other airline loyalty programme or frequent flyer programme. You also can't transfer Airpoints Dollars earned for travel on one Partner Airline to another Partner Airline's frequent flyer programme. When you book, you must specify the programme to which you want your frequent flyer points credited.

1.2 Earning Airpoints Dollars on Air New Zealand Flights
1.2.1 We'll calculate the Airpoints Dollars you earn on Air New Zealand Operated Flights for international Sectors using the Origin to Destination One-Way Journey and the class of travel. On a One-Way Journey, we'll calculate your Airpoints Dollars and credit them to your Account after the last Flight. On return Origin to Destination Journeys, we'll credit Airpoints Dollars to your Account at the Turn-around Point and when the final destination is reached.
1.2.2 We'll calculate Airpoints Dollars you earn on Air New Zealand domestic Sectors, flown within 24 hours of an international Sector, using the "Domestic Add-on" category of the Airpoints Dollars Earned on Air New Zealand Chart. These Airpoints Dollars will be applied once in either direction, no matter how many domestic Sectors you fly within the applicable 24-hour period. We'll calculate the 24-hour period from the scheduled time of arrival to the scheduled time of departure.
1.2.3 Airpoints Dollars you earn on Air New Zealand domestic Sectors flown more than 24 hours before or after an international Sector, are calculated based on one of the "Within New Zealand" category of the Airpoints Dollars Earned on the Air New Zealand Chart or on the "Within New Zealand" category of the Partner Airline Earn Chart.
Airpoints Dollars you earn on Air New Zealand domestic Sectors which are not within 24 hours of an international Sector, are calculated based on one of the two "Domestic Locations Within New Zealand" category of the Airpoints Dollars Earned on Air New Zealand Chart, and on the kilometres flown.
1.2.4 If your Journey is in more than one Service Class (excluding Air New Zealand Upgrades and Star Alliance Upgrade Awards), we'll calculate Airpoints Dollars for the entire Journey based on the Service Class in which you travelled the greatest distance.
1.2.5 You can't earn Airpoints Dollars for travel on Air New Zealand Domestic, Tasman and Pacific Island Smart Saver fares booked in classes L, G, S, K, F, and any Grabaseat fares. However, travel in these classes can be recorded in your account for the purposes outlined in clauses 5 and 6.5.2. 5 Maintaining Tier Status

5.1 Status Points (as described in the published Airpoints Dollars schedules and earned on Qualifying Flights on Air New Zealand Operated Flights and Star Alliance Carriers' services) count towards calculating Tier Status. For the avoidance of doubt, Tier Status is calculated independently from the Airpoints Dollars in your Account.
5.1.1 You need a minimum number of Status Points earned solely on Air New Zealand Operated Flights to achieve and keep Gold Elite Tier Status. Please see clauses 5.2.1 for the current qualifying criteria.
5.2 Domestic, Tasman and Pacific Island Smart Saver fares booked in classes L, G, S, K, as well as Grab a Seat fares do not earn Airpoints Dollars, but do earn Tier Status Points. Travel booked in booking classes N, X, I and R on all Air New Zealand Operated Flights or on Non Qualifying Flights do not earn Airpoints Dollars or count towards your Tier Status. The purchase of goods or services from Non Airline Reward Partners do not count towards Tier Status. The qualifying criteria for Tier Status can be changed at any time without notice. Please visit airnewzealand.com/airpoints for the current qualifying criteria.
5.2.1 Qualifying criteria for Tier Status for Members (including Australian Members):

Tier   Amount of Qualifying Status Points* Required to Upgrade   Amount of Qualifying Status Points* Required to Retain Tier Status
  Silver   450   405
  Gold   900   810
Gold Elite   1,500 (at least 900 on Air New Zealand Operated Flights)   1,350 (at least 810 on Air New Zealand Operated Flights)
* Only Status Points earned on Air New Zealand and Star Alliance Flights count towards Airpoints Tier Status. The qualifying Status Points must be earned in any 12 month period to achieve Tier Status.
5.3 We'll review Members' Tier Status every day and we'll notify Members when they attain a Tier Status within six weeks after they achieve it. Gold Elite, Gold and Silver Tier Status and applicable benefits are valid for 12 months after the applicable Tier Status becomes effective (as notified by us). If, during that 12 month period, a Member achieves a higher Tier Status, all benefits of the current Tier Status will expire and the benefits of the new Tier Status will automatically apply. Twelve months after the date on which a Member achieves a particular Tier Status, that Member's Tier Status will be reviewed; the Member must have earned the required Tier Status points over the previous 12 months in order to keep that Tier Status. The Member will be downgraded to the applicable lower Tier Status if they have not earned the required Status Points.
